While our volunteer work parties are open to all, that's only one of many reasons to 'go down into the wood today'. We are keen to open the Copse to the community as frequently as possible.
Events organised to date include open days and hospitality events and hosting a scout group, The Copse is ideal for just simply 'losing yourself' and connecting with nature. It is an an inspiring wild venue. We've held a very successful guided poetry writing day. Other events in the pipeline include a creative writing event and art / photography days.
If you would like to take part in any capacity - participant, organiser or donor please get in touch.
Some examples of events todate are given below.
Our first open day in June 2024 was a great success, and we got to meet many of our neighbours along with members of the badger group. A big shout out to Penny at no. 86 for opening her wonderful garden and magnificent hospitality.
Since then, the wood has been opened periodically around work parties. We are building our mailing list and have leafleted the surrounding area four times to raise awareness.
In December we invite friends and neighbours to join us in our incredibly special woodland. With Christmas in mind, we provide mince pies and a tour of the Copse.
The initial 2024 event was blessed with a wonderfully sunny and crisp day and we can only hope to be so lucky again on 14th December 2025.
Eileen Anderson is the driving force behind our 'art' in the copse events. She led our first gathering of experienced and would be poets in March 2025. Read more about the "Words from the Wild Wood" event here.
