The Copse hosted a fantastic local cub scout troop on Sunday 16th March. Whilst the Copse is a usually a place of quiet and wildness, it was wonderful to see it come alive with enthusiastic young people and their scout leaders. So much energy and commitment.
Earning their badges
The scouts certainly worked hard toward their 'badges'. They formed teams that lined pathways, planted 500 Bluebells in the green, dug two lots of steps that opened new paths down the steep bank. They built two really creative insect hotels down in the glade while others made bird boxes. Their final task was to gather fallen wood (of which there is a LOT) and build new log piles. And at the end of the day they cheerfully helped us pack everything away and take to our cars, leaving the wood as clean and peaceful at they found it.
MAGIC HAPPENING

The scouts also raised an amazing £180 for the Conservation Appeal - that's a lot of pocket money and we really appreciate their contribution.
We really hope to welcome them back and work together in the future.
